Building the studio taught me more about writing instructions for a model than using one ever did, so I wrote ten longer pieces about it — why an instruction gets ignored, how to stop a model inventing facts, choosing examples, when step-by-step reasoning is worth paying for, output a program can parse, one complete prompt taken apart line by line, what the Role block actually changes, what belongs in the system prompt and what in the user message, giving the model permission to say it does not know, and how I test a prompt before I change it.
